The first step to discover Maya culture is a visit to the city of Cobá, situated in the heart of the forest in the south-eastern part or the Yucatan peninsula. From the top of the pyramid, you will enjoy the view of the subtropical forest and be able to take some fantastic pictures. After visiting the archaeological site, you will go to a cenote inside the Mexican forest: a natural sinkhole with fresh, clear water where you can swim and relax immersed in a magical atmosphere. From there, you will move on to one of the most beautiful beaches of the entire Riviera, south of Tulum, in the direction of Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch at the restaurant on the beach.
The archaeological site of Tulum is famous for its exceptional location on the top of a cliff, overlooking the sea, offering spectacular colour contrasts and breathtaking views. After visiting the archaeological site, you will go down to the beach where a boat will take you snorkelling to explore the beauty of the seabed, meet the turtles and the see the coral reef. The excursion ends with lunch at a Beach Club.
Chichen Itza + Cenote + Valladolid
Founded around 450 B.C., Chichen Itza, which in Maya language means “near the Itza spring”, is still considered a sacred place by the descendants of the Maya and is one of the largest and best preserved archaeological sites and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. After visiting the archaeological site, you will stop for a swim in a cenote inside a cave with calcareous formations, take a break, relax and enjoy one of Mexico’s marvels. The next stop will be a visit to the colonial city of Valladolid, where you can visit the main square and the church.
Chichen-Itza Maya cenote adventure
Before reaching Chichen Itza, you will explore the mysterious Maya cenote descending in the most impressive sinkhole in the region thanks to a monumental wood ladder build using Maya techniques. You will admire the natural pools that have a diameter of more than 80 metres. Deep down below the surface you will be amazed by the activities you can do: swim in the cenote, climb down ropes and swing off lianas like Tarzan. Traditional Yucatan lunch at the Maya village.
